What type of muscles are under conscious control?

Skeletal muscles are indeed the type of muscles that are under conscious control. These muscles are responsible for voluntary movements and are attached to the bones of the skeleton. When you decide to perform an action, such as lifting your arm or walking, your brain sends signals to the skeletal muscles to contract and produce those movements.

In contrast, involuntary muscles, which include cardiac and smooth muscles, operate without conscious control. Cardiac muscles, found only in the heart, are also involuntary and continuously work to pump blood throughout the body. Smooth muscles are located in the walls of hollow organs and also function automatically to carry out essential bodily processes like digestion and blood flow regulation. This distinction makes skeletal muscles unique in that they respond to voluntary commands, enabling movements that can be controlled at will.
